Another tooth out and fun digi kit

Mason's second tooth fell out the night before last. He had a bit of a shark tooth thing going on, in that the tooth was already growing in behind the baby tooth before it fell out. It's really hard to get a good closeup of that! LOL No cavities! :)

Look at this jumbo balloon Graham got at the grocery store last week. We ran in quickly to get a couple of things and he was goofing around and laughing and an employee said Would Mr. Happy like a balloon? So we said, Okay and the next thing I know, she's tying this onto his wrist. What a hit!

Student of the Week

Okay, so I haven't been on here in a couple of weeks and I'm totally late with the big news, but Mason was Student of the Week on the week ending November 7th! The date is wrong on his certificate though. If he wins Student of the Month, he gets tickets to a hockey game with the local OHL team. That would be pretty exciting for him. He flew out of school, just beaming and yelled I'm Student of the Week!! Here is his certificate:

I haven't been scrapping as much as I've wanted to lately, as I've been running around trying to get some Christmas shopping done and I think I'm done the boys. I still need to get something for 3 of my nephews and my Mom and Dad, and that'll be it. I did make some sample cards and I learned how to make a quickpage! Super cool! I've made a few in advance so when I get my photos back I just have to dump them in once I decide which ones I'm going to use.

Hmmm. Pretty irritating that the whole picture isn't showing! I've tried all three size settings. There are parts of it you can't see but you get the idea. Isn't it pretty? It's not a typical fall/Thanksgiving kit; this kit is so versatile! I don't know what part I like best, the tags with doodled flowers, the notepaper, the glitter swirls... it's all so nice.

We have a busy weekend planned. Saturday morning we have our annual photos taken, then Mason has hockey and then both boys are going to a birthday party at a bowling alley across town. I think Graham and I will return some curtains we bought today that are too long while Mason is at hockey.

HUGE sigh of relief

Thank God I didn't lose all my pictures!! You can't imagine the huge sigh of relief when I restarted the computer and all was fine again. Sometimes the computer gets bogged down or something, maybe it just wants to induce a heart attack in me, but when I went to upload the Halloween photos, all the folders had disappeared and the cursor was just spinning and spinning.

So busy, but with what?

I can't believe it's been over two weeks since I posted last. Things have been busy here, but I'm not sure what I've been busy with. Hallowe'en, field trips, birthday presents for my nephews, birthday parties for Mason's friends, hockey, work, laundry. Well, I guess that's what I've been busy with. LOL.

Here's a photo of Graham in his new PJs. He begged for these, and he loves them! Sometimes he wears them all day with his Santa hat on. :)

I was going to post the boys in their Halloween costumes, but my computer is acting up. I hope it'll get back to normal if I re-start the computer. I'm going to try that.

I've been so busy I haven't even had time to scrap, but I just have to post about this great new kit over at Sunshine Studios by Kristi and Dani. It's call Peanuts and Crackerjacks and it's a baseball theme of course! It will be perfect for T-ball photos! It's generic enough for lots of other layouts too. I really like the chainlink fence frame, the baseball stitching and the stars. I like the slightly grungy look too. Hmm, I'm very confused. When I preview this post I can see the whole photo of the kit, but when I upload it, I can't. Very annoying. You'll have to check out the store link to see the whole thing I guess.

Report Card and a Missing Tooth

Mason got his first progress report/report card last week. I am so proud of him! There are only 3 levels, S-Satisfactory, NI-Needs Improvement and something else I can't remember. He got all S with one NI for needs to participate in class discussions more. He's very quiet in class. Not so quiet anywhere else, but in class he is. Here are the teacher's comments. The line I like best is "Uses time in class wisely." Hopefully that continues throughout the years and he's not stuck with hours of homework like his cousin who wastes time in class is.


Mason had to do a class presentation of a "ME Bag." The bag was to contain items that are special to him and he had to explain why. He got a B on the pesentation. It's hard to see what the scoring guide says but he had Level 3 on everything and Level 4 on establishes consistent eye contact with the audience. The other categories were he is prepared and has noticeably practiced, he shows good understanding of the topic, the requirements are complete and he speaks clearly most of the time.

On October 9th, Mason's tooth fell out. I suspect it had more than a little help from Mason. I can't believe how different he looks with a hole in his smile! He put the tooth in a kleenex in a little box under his pillow and when he went to show Daddy the tooth in the morning, it wasn't there! $5 was in the box instead! He shouldn't expect the Tooth Fairy to give him $5 every time, but for the first tooth, she's quite generous.

Today, October 15th I went with Mason on a school field trip to the pumpkin patch. Here he is with a little pumpkin he got to pick out and take home.

And a picture of Graham. Poor Graham, there's just not much happening for him right now. But wait until the spring when he goes on his first soccer team!

Well, I guess that's it from here. I should be doing work around the house, but I'm not!

Busy weekend

We had quite a busy weekend.

Mason had hockey practice on Saturday and a game today. After the game we met some friends and went to a local apple orchard to pick some apples. I'll have to make an apple crisp or pie or something. I don't know when, since I'm on day shift for 5 days in a row this week. Yuck.

My brother and his fiancee are coming to visit Tuesday night, so that will be a nice quick visit before they head back home on Wednesday. I'll have to see if I can take a couple of hours off work on Tuesday.

Loose tooth!

Mason finally has a loose tooth that is clearly loose when you wiggle it with a finger. He said it got stuck on a Fruit to go yesterday at school, and that's how he knew it was loose. Soon we'll have a gap toothed smile. :)

I'm kind of annoyed at the Principal of Mason's school. At the PAC (Parents Advisory Council) meeting she was going on about the theme of the year being "Attitude is Everything" and having a positive attitude/outlook on things etc. So we are discussing fundraising activities and I mention the Fundscrip program (www.fundscrip.com), which I personally think is fantastic and is under used and under advertised. I mention I'd made a flyer to send out to the parents and she interrupted me to say they wouldn't be using the program, it doesn't make any money and only one parent uses it anyway.

I say I'M THE PARENT! and I think it's a great program and people aren't using it because they aren't aware of it. She said at the last school she was at it only made $500. Well that's $500 they didn't have before, isn't it? Couldn't that $500 pay for sports equipment, or intramural t-shirts or something! I'm going to print my flyer out and hand it around to people I know and get them to sign up. I'll be the administrator if I have to and have everything sent to my house.

Attitude is Everything! Follow your own advice lady! >: A couple of other newcomers spoke up during the meeting and afterward one of the other Mom's said to me and another lady, "You guys did great! It's good for new people to be speaking up." One of us new Moms is going to have to take over the Bingo program, because that makes about $15,000 for the school each year and the Mom running it now will be finished this year as her child will be going to the high school next year. I don't really want to do it, but maybe if a couple of us share the job....

So excited!

I made a HUGE post (see Blue 33 below) and my computer totally froze up and shut everything down and I thought for sure I would lose the post, but YAY! I didn't. It saved in the draft post folder. Thank goodness! :)

Blue 33

That's Mason's team colour and number. It's funny because earlier today he asked why number 3 was a lucky number and I said because it's his birthday. He said, "No, like 1, 2, 3 ..." I said, well, because it's a nice number. I have no idea what he meant.

He went to his first practice today with his team and their first game is tomorrow. None of the kids from his soccer team are on this team, but there is a boy who was in his JK class and a boy who used to be in his Montessori class on his team. Three of his close friends are on other teams, so he'll be playing against them. There are only four teams, so we'll be seeing a lot of them throughout the season.

Here is a picture of him doing one of the drills. They had two boys skating one behind the other, each holding two hockey sticks. I have no idea what the purpose of that drill was, balance and teamwork I guess, but it was fun to watch. I'll try to put a movie up too. Mason is in the white jersey in the front.

Poor Graham, nothing to say about him except he's been wearing a Spiderman suit all day for the last two days. I don't even have a picture of it to post! D'oh! I'd better get one tomorrow!

Mason's last "time trial" for hockey was today. Graham and I got there a bit late. It seemed as though Mason spent more time horizontally than vertically! LOL He needs to figure out which hand he wants to use because when he has the stick on the ice, he holds it in his right hand but then he switches his hands around so he can shoot left-handed. Today he was skating with his stick in the air the whole time. Not up in the air, but across his body like he was getting ready to shoot.

Mason's friend had his birthday party on Saturday at gymnastics place and Graham was old enough to go, so he was allowed to join the fun. Here they are hanging from the parallel bars:

Mason has his first Science project for grade 1. He needs to build something to protect you from the weather. He's making a house. Here it is. It is a shoebox with a popsicle stick roof. We had to go buy popsicle sticks because we gave all of ours to his teacher for their crafts. He's painted the house since this photo.:

Busy weekend coming and new boy kit

Well, we have a busy weekend coming up. Tomorrow Mason has his second spelling test, and since he's good with spelling October, I think he'll get 100% again. He still hasn't decided what he wants to do for his science project, so we'll have to get on that.

Saturday we have hockey time trials at 11:00am, then at 4:00pm we're going to a friend of Mason's birthday party at the gymnastics centre. That should wear him out! I can hope, anyway. There will be pizza and cake there. On Sunday his hockey time trials are at 08:00am! Yikes. Oh well, we're used to early days around here.

I was cruising the digi scrapping boards and found this fun kit for boys, well I think it's for boys, but that's me. It's called Rugrats Playground by Ellie Lash and Moon Scraps. It has some fun travel elements and I love the spiral notebook. There are tons of papers and elements. I've seen some cute layouts with this kit. Well, last week was busy! Mason scored 100% on his spelling test and on his vocabulary words. He was very excited about that. We've been doing his spelling words each night, and I get him to make sentences on his own with the vocabulary words or I tell him a sentence and make him get the words and put them in order. He seems interested in doing it so that's good. I think he's finally making progress as far as reading goes. Yay!

He has to do a science project for school, he has to build/construct/make something to protect you from weather. So, an umbrella, sun hat, house, things along that line. Then he has to bring it to school and present it to the class and demonstrate how it works. He's in grade 1! Last night when he was in bed he told me his good idea for an umbrella, with a tennis ball, a vacuum tube and I forget what else. Full points for creativity for sure, but since it wouldn't work, I suggested he come up with another idea. I'll be googling some kids science sites for ideas I think.

I've been so busy I haven't had time to scrap anything at all, hopefully I'll be able to get something done in the next day or two. I've barely had a chance to be online. On Thursday Graham and I went to the dentist. Graham hopped right up on the chair and was a fantastic patient! Then he waited nicely and quietly for me. What a great kid!

Mason had his first spelling test on Friday and he aced it with 100%. He was pretty excited about that and so was I.

Mason's started hockey last week and had a practice today and tomorrow. He's getting much better on the ice. I missed today and tomorrow because I'm working.

Hello

Well, I thought I'd start a blog so my friends and family from far away could see what's going on in my super exciting life.

I plan on posting photos and video clips of the boys, my digital scrapbooking layouts, digital scrapbooking freebies that I might find and want to show my digi-scrapping friends, good recipes I find and other assorted stuff.

One thing that I've done lately, to give an example of how exciting things are around here, is I cleaned out Graham's closet of all the clothes that are too small and donated them to charity. Then I washed all the hand-me-downs from Mason to get those put away in Graham's dresser for the fall.

I showed Graham some of the things yesterday and he was pretty excited. Everything I showed him he said, "Whoa! Is that for me? That's cool!" Then he ran off with them to go show Mason. And speaking of washing clothes, I'd better go tackle Mount Washmore sitting in my laundry room.
